Rainy & Romantic Engagement Session at Pilot Mountain | Greensboro Winston-Salem, NC Wedding Photographer
One thing all of us photographers have to gamble with.. is the weather. The fear of bad weather is always in the back of our heads when we're scheduling and planning for sessions. There is just no way to know if will rain through the session months or weeks ahead of time. Even the couple days and hours leading up to the session can be hard to tell! The weather is not always right and sometimes we just have to gamble alongside our clients by either rescheduling the session if it isn't looking promising OR just dive headfirst and hope the rain clears up in time (which turns out, it often does!)
However... this time, it did not. The days leading up to Melissa and Cody's e-session showed some rain here and there in the forecast, but that doesn't always signal a rained out session. I also noticed my weather app said that it would clear up by the time their session began, so we figured LET'S GO FOR IT! The day of their session comes and it is steadily raining nearly all day. Oh, and I also forgot that my windshield wiper had broken earlier that week! So the hubs comes to the rescue and drives us to Pilot Mountain, NC in his stick shift car that I cannot drive (I know, I know) while I hand fed him Bojangles. By this time, I was thoroughly worried because there was no sun in sight and the rain was not letting up. But on we went. When we got up to the top of Pilot Mountain it was still raining with no break in the clouds anywhere to be seen. What a bummer!
The best part? I asked my couple what they wanted to do, and what do Melissa and Cody say to me? "We're here and ready, might as well give it a shot!" This made my heart soar! I had came prepared for rain just in case, and we were going to have some fun shooting in the rain.
